NEW ENGLAND

My quick trip to New England was fabulous...it is so gorgeous up there...also I forgot how different it was. We were all over the place, Boston, Newburyport, Durham, Hampton, and Portland. People are a whole lot more hippie, casual, smart, and opinionated. The weather is all over the place...when we got there it was rainy and in the 40s 50s...by the time we left it was 80s 90s...it would change within an hour.

The scenery is especially gorgeous. The trees were all in bloom...I love love love the apple blossom trees. Also the beaches and islands are so amazing, so blue and from every angle there is a beautiful picture to be taken.

10 days was the perfect amount of time to visit lots of people and do lots of things without feeling too rushed. The highlight of my trip was being away from the Florida heat and being able to sit by the water, or go for a walk, and go to small little shops that each sell something unique and interesting. I wish Tampa was a bit smaller, a whole lot more cultured, and a smidge colder.

beaches

I'm back from the Caymen Islands and Playa del carma. I had a nice/fun time, but unfortunetly I came home sick sick sick. I have nothing to do but play on my computer. I guess thats not so bad.

A sweet Chapel in Caymen Islands

Everyone was taking the cruise buses to private islands for $30.00 a person. For $2.50 Nathan and I took a Caymen bus/cab to the public beach. They drive crazy and they don't stop for pedestrians. There was hardly anyone on the beach.

Playa del Carma was a tourist trap in Mexico, but we still had a great time

Dear Kristina,
I leave for Mexico today. I have missed and will miss seeing you. I finished all the over time I promised to work at the job. Hopefully my new free time will allow for more time to visit you. I love those jelly sandals in the post before this. Marc Jacobs makes a really cool pair. I know what you mean about the bad Tampa fashion. I saw the hipest girls walk in to Borders last night dressed head to toe in glamour, fur and houndstooth. It was the cutest thing, so maybe there is hope! I have 5 new magazines to take with me and I can not wait to break into them!!!!!! I miss you and love you! Have fun in Basten!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

TAMPA! FASHION CAPITAL OF THE WORLD

Dear Jamie,

psscha! Tampa is all kinds of messed up...especially within fashion...flip flops are the choice of shoes for the majority year round. Tampa has no cultural history or city history...which is so sad. I grew up in Portland, Maine where LL Bean boots and flannel shirts are worn and then moved to flip flop tank top land. When looking at street fashion of the major cities I am filled with jealousy...a smidge. These people live in cities that are alive...their art scene and fashion scene and music scene and over all cultural scenes are huge and changing. poo. These people has opportunities to meet so many interesting people and are exposed to the GREATEST and the NEWEST. double poo. What would it take to get Tampa to the same level? haha a lot!!!

ok so I can't say that Tampa is all bad...such as you can meet some interesting and cool looking people at a night at the CASTLE. but the art scene has almost died here......the four biggest galleries all closed...that is very frustrating...but even when they were open, they weren't visited...the same small group of artsy people would only go...Gala Corina brought in a large crowd...but I'm undecided about the quality of the art work and the fashion.

What I think about is...if I had grown up in a big stylish city what would my style have evolved into? or would my artwork be different? I wonder how much your surroundings effect how you become?

I LOOK FORWARD TO MOVING TO STOCKHOLM........................enough of this Friday rant!

look at this photo. this is my inspiration of the day. Photographed by wacky FACEHUNTER Yvan Rodic in London.

i love the clear jelly flats and the ary/graffitti posters in the background, and the fact that she is riding a bike in a sweet girly dress. that is just too perfect and too cute.

I leave you with this delicious photo of Kate Moss...I love the detail in the bottom corner. ciao ciao.

"Only Superficial People Can't Be Superficial" -Oscar Wilde

I am still in love with Coppola's MARIE ANTOINETTE. I am seeing it today for the second time in a row...it is so delicious...every scene is like a tempting pastry. so much gold, fabrics, ribbons, pastel colors, flowers, and goodies. I just eat it all up...I need a personal way of putting it into my artwork without being too over the top. I think my idea of satin covered canvases is perfect....but anything else. hmmmmmmmm

I had some of my Paris trip photographs printed as a 5"x7" size to sell on ETSY...so good luck to them....they are all so very very gorgeous. It has strangly almost been a year since going on the trip. The time has gone by far too fast and I haven't done nothing really. This summer I have to do some changing....better job....move out...new surroundings....new friends....blah blah fun stuff. I would really like to go to Stockholm. It is so gorgeous, and hip, and current, and trendy, and freezing. It will be interesting to be cold for a change.

Just look how amazing this city is.

I'm so excited. I don't know how long I should stay there...or where I am going to live...or what I am going to do...or if I can get a job. But I would like to definitly spend some time there...pull in lots of inspiration and meet lots of contacts...maybe get some of my art going. that would be just lovely.
